Show LABELS             RETURN

This lateral dissection of the thigh revels the sciatic nerve (top black arrow) positioned caudal to the femur (not visible). The sciatic nerve divides into a tibial nerve and a common peroneal n. (bottom black arrow). In this dissection, the biceps femoris m. (1) attached to fascia lata (white arrow) is reflected forward, revealing the vatus lateralis m. (2). The semitendinosus m. (3) is caudal to the sciatic n. Other muscles include: gastrocnemius m. (4); two parts of the tensor faciae latae m. (5); superficial gluteal m. (6); middle gluteal m. (7); and semimembranosus m. (8).
