Developmental Anatomy Courseware

Two developmental anatomy courseware offerings are available: Embryology Tutor is a HyperCard application that runs on Macintosh computers. Placental Images was written in Authorware and runs on both Mac and Windows platforms. Click a title for more information:

Embryology Tutor 0.9.8 is a HyperCard application that presents mammalian development in the form of lessons corresponding to body systems. Currently, fours lessons have been developed (Cardiovascular System, Genital System, Urinary System, and Nevous System).

Each lesson features:
      • Major Topics (with links to tutorial screens),
      • Detailed Lesson Outline (with links to tutorial screens),
      • Lesson Objectives,
      • Lesson Summary,
      • Lesson Glossary,
      • Lesson Quiz, and
      • Lesson Tutorial (a series of didactic screens),

The series of tutorial screens presents basic information through text and graphics, with additional information optionally available via button clicks. The multiple-choice quiz offers instructor commentary per question and the option of reviewing tutorial screens that are pertinent to the current question.

Disk size: 4.5 MB (including all lessons). Minimum hardware: Macintosh (9” b&w screen); requires 2 MB RAM.

      A Macintosh computer is required to run Embryology Tutor 0.9.8. When you click "Download Now" (below), a 2.2 MB compressed, self-extracting, binary file "Embryology Tutor 0.9.8.sea" will be transmitted to the location on your hard disk where your browser downloads files. Double-click the downloaded file icon to extract a 4.3 MB folder "Embryology Tutor 0.9.8" (your browser may extract this file automatically). Inside the folder, double-click the HyperCard application entitled "Begin Embryology Tutor" to view the courseware (the application and lessons frolder must remain in the same parent folder). You can trash "Embryology Tutor 0.9.8.sea" to conserve disk space.) Download Now

Placental Images is an Authorware tutorial that presents color images of placentas and related structures of seven species of domestic animals. Explanatory text and associated clinical problems related to placentation are included.

Disk size: 27 MB. Minimum hardware: Macintosh (640 x 480 pixels, thousands of colors); PC (Windows 95).
