Purpose:
      Cranial Nerve Nuclei 1.2 is independent study courseware intended to help students learn the neuroanatomy of cranial nerve nuclei in the dog brain. It is a SuperCard stand-alone appication (Mac platform). The courseware was designed for first-year veterinary students studying Neurobiology.

Features:
      Cartoons of cranial nerve cell columns, color coded by type (SE, VE, GSA, GVA, etc.), are shown in dorsal, transverse, and sagittal views of a canine brainstem. The actual cranial nerve nuclei are also shown in labeled transverse sections of a canine brain.

The courseware has five sections:

• Introduction to general features of afferent & efferent and somatic & visceral nuclei;
  
• Illustrations of cranial nerves plus a synopsis of innervation & fiber-type per cranial nerve;
  
• Neurological deficits that result from nerve damage, per cranial nerve;
  
• General afferent and efferent cell columns and the cranial nerve nuclei they form;
  
• Special afferent pathways and nuclei (vision, hearing, kinesthesia, taste, & olfaction.

      Cranial Nerve Nuclei 1.2 is a SuperCard stand-alone application. It requires a Macintosh computer with a color display and 10 MB of RAM available to run the application. The courseware is optimized for 640 by 480 pixel resolution and thousands of colors. Disc size is 35 MB.

Download Instructions:

      A Macintosh computer in Classic mode is required to run Cranial Nerve Nuclei. When you click "Download File" (below), a 25 MB compressed file "Cranial Nerve Nuclei 1.2.sit" will be transmitted to the location on your hard disk where your browser downloads files. Double-click "Cranial Nerve Nuclei 1.2.sit" to extract it with Stuffit Expander. This produces a 35 MB SuperCard file "Cranial Nerve Nuclei 1.2". Double-click "Cranial Nerve Nuclei 1.2" to view the courseware. (You can trash "Cranial Nerve Nuclei 1.2.sit" to conserve disk space.) Download File
